What is an R Visa?
The R Visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreign nationals to enter and work in the United States on a temporary basis for religious organizations. It is also known as the Religious Worker Visa or Ministry Visa. This visa is valid for up to three years and can be renewed indefinitely.
The R Visa is available to those who are coming to the US to work as ministers of religion, professional religious workers, or other religious workers. To qualify, applicants must have been members of a religious denomination for at least two years prior to applying for the visa.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for an R Visa, applicants must meet certain requirements:
- Be a member of a recognized religious denomination
- Have been a member of that denomination for at least two years prior to applying
- Have an offer of employment from a US-based religious organization
- Have qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the job
Note: Applicants must also meet all other general eligibility requirements for non-immigrant visas.
Application Process
