What is the U.S. Visa Waiver Program?
The U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) is a program that allows citizens of certain countries, including Ireland, to travel to the United States without a visa for stays of up to 90 days.
The VWP is designed to facilitate tourism and business travel between the United States and participating countries, while also enhancing security by allowing pre-screening of travelers before they arrive in the United States.
How do I apply for a U.S. Visa Waiver?
In order to apply for a U.S. Visa Waiver, you must first register online with USA ESTA. Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email confirmation with your ESTA authorization number.
You must then present this authorization number when you arrive at the airport in the United States in order to be allowed entry into the country.
What documents do I need to apply?
In order to apply for a U.S. Visa Waiver, you must have a valid passport from Ireland that is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in the United States.
You must also have proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in the United States, as well as proof of return or onward travel.
What if my application is denied?
If your application is denied, you will not be able to enter the United States under the VWP.
If this happens, you may still be able to enter the United States by applying for a regular visa through your local embassy or consulate.
