New Zealand ETA requirements
What is an eTA?
An Electronic Travel Authority (eTA) is an electronic visa waiver that allows citizens of certain countries to travel to and stay in New Zealand for up to 90 days without a visa. An eTA is valid for two years from the date of issue and can be used for multiple trips.
The eTA is linked to your passport and is electronically stored in the New Zealand Immigration System. You do not need to carry any documents with you when travelling as your eTA will be checked at the border.
Who needs an eTA?
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and United States of America, who are travelling to New Zealand for tourism or business purposes, must obtain an eTA before entering the country.
All other nationalities must apply for a visa before travelling to New Zealand.
How to Apply
Applying for an eTA is quick and easy. You can apply online through the official website of the New Zealand Immigration Service or through a third-party provider such as eTA New Zealand.
You will need to provide personal information, passport details, and answer some security questions.
Processing Time
Most applications are processed within 24 hours.
Once approved, your eTA will be electronically linked to your passport and you will receive a confirmation email.
