Moldova visa requirements
Overview
Moldova is a small Eastern European country located between Romania and Ukraine. It is a member of the European Union and has a population of around 3 million people. The official language is Romanian, but Russian and English are also widely spoken.
The Moldovan government has implemented a visa policy that allows citizens of certain countries to enter the country without a visa or with an electronic visa (eVisa). Citizens of the European Union, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and several other countries can enter Moldova without a visa for stays up to 90 days.
Types of Visas
For those who need to obtain a visa before traveling to Moldova, there are two types available: single-entry visas and multiple-entry visas. Single-entry visas are valid for one entry into the country within three months from the date of issue. Multiple-entry visas are valid for multiple entries into the country within six months from the date of issue.
In addition to these two types of visas, travelers can also apply for a Moldova eVisa. The eVisa is an electronic travel authorization that allows travelers to enter Moldova for tourism or business purposes for stays up to 90 days.
Requirements
To apply for any type of visa or eVisa, travelers must meet certain requirements set by the Moldovan government. These include having a valid passport with at least six months validity remaining from the date of arrival in Moldova; proof of sufficient funds; proof of accommodation; and proof of return or onward travel.
In addition, applicants may be required to provide additional documents such as medical insurance, bank statements, invitation letters from family or friends in Moldova, or evidence of employment in their home country.
Application Process
The application process for all types of visas is similar and can be completed online or at a local embassy or consulate. For an eVisa application, applicants must complete an online form and submit it along with supporting documents such as passport copies and photos.
Once the application is submitted, it will be processed by the Moldovan government within three business days. Applicants will receive their approved eVisa via email once it has been processed.
