Laos Visa Requirements for EU Citizens
EU citizens are required to have a valid passport and a visa in order to enter Laos. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Laos. Visas can be obtained from Lao embassies or consulates abroad, or on arrival at certain international airports in Laos.
The type of visa required depends on the purpose of your visit. Tourist visas are valid for 30 days and can be extended once for an additional 30 days. Business visas are valid for 60 days and can also be extended once for an additional 30 days.
How to Apply for a Laos Visa
EU citizens can apply for a visa either through a Lao embassy or consulate abroad, or by applying online for an Laos eVisa. The eVisa is valid for 30 days and can be used for single entry only.
The application process is simple and straightforward, and applicants will need to provide basic personal information such as name, date of birth, passport details, and travel plans. Once the application is approved, applicants will receive their eVisa via email.
Fees
The cost of a tourist visa is US$30 (or equivalent in local currency) and the cost of a business visa is US$50 (or equivalent in local currency). The cost of an eVisa is US$35 (or equivalent in local currency). All fees are non-refundable.
It is important to note that some countries may require additional documents such as proof of onward travel or proof of sufficient funds before issuing a visa.
Validity
Visas issued by Lao embassies or consulates abroad are usually valid for 3 months from the date of issue, while visas issued on arrival are usually valid for 30 days from the date of entry into Laos.
eVisas, however, are only valid for 30 days from the date of issue and cannot be extended or renewed.
