History
The Green Card Lottery was first introduced in 1990 as part of the Immigration Act of 1990. The purpose of the lottery was to increase diversity among immigrants coming to the United States by providing a way for people from countries with low immigration rates to apply for permanent residency. Since then, the lottery has been held annually and is open to citizens of eligible countries.
The lottery is administered by the U.S. Department of State and is open to citizens of countries that have had low levels of immigration to the United States in recent years. Each year, a certain number of visas are allocated through the lottery, with winners being chosen randomly from all eligible applicants.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the Green Card Lottery, applicants must meet certain criteria. These include being a citizen or national of an eligible country, having at least a high school education or its equivalent, and meeting other requirements such as age and family size.
Applicants must also pass a background check and medical examination before they can be approved for a visa. Once approved, they will receive their green card within six months.
Application Process
The application process for the Green Card Lottery is relatively straightforward. Applicants must complete an online form and submit it along with supporting documents such as proof of citizenship and educational qualifications.
Once submitted, applications are reviewed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). If approved, applicants will be notified via email or mail and will be required to complete additional steps such as attending an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
USA ESTA

ESTA is an automated system used by U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to determine eligibility for travel into the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). ESTA is valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first, so it’s important to keep your passport up-to-date if you plan on traveling frequently during that period.
