Visa-Free Countries for Malawi
Africa
Malawi citizens can enjoy visa-free travel to many African countries, including Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. All of these countries are part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which allows for free movement of people within the region.
In addition to SADC members, Malawians can also visit other African countries such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Comoros Islands, Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda and Senegal without needing a visa.
Asia
Malawi citizens can also visit several Asian countries without needing a visa. These include Cambodia, Hong Kong SAR (up to 90 days), Indonesia (up to 30 days), Macao SAR (up to 30 days), Maldives (up to 30 days), Nepal (up to 90 days) and Timor Leste (up to 30 days).
For other Asian countries such as China and India that require visas for entry into their country, Malawians can apply for an eVisa. An eVisa is an electronic travel authorization that allows travelers from certain countries to enter another country without having to go through the traditional process of applying for a physical visa at an embassy or consulate.
Caribbean
Malawians can also enjoy visa-free travel in the Caribbean region with destinations such as Antigua & Barbuda (up to 6 months), Bahamas (up to 8 months), Barbados (up to 6 weeks), Dominica (up to 21 days), Grenada (up to 3 months), Haiti (up to 3 months) and Jamaica (up to 6 months).
It is important for travelers from Malawi visiting any of these Caribbean islands to ensure they have all the necessary documents required for entry into the country.
Oceania
Malawians can also visit several Oceania countries without needing a visa including Fiji Islands (up to 4 months) and Samoa Islands (up to 60 days).
