Types of Visas
New Zealand citizens can apply for a tourist visa, business visa, or an employment visa. Tourist visas are valid for 30 days and can be extended up to 180 days. Business visas are valid for 30 days and can be extended up to 90 days. Employment visas are valid for one year and can be extended up to five years.
The type of visa you need depends on the purpose of your visit. If you are travelling for leisure, you should apply for a tourist visa. If you are travelling for business purposes, you should apply for a business visa. If you are travelling to work in Sri Lanka, you should apply for an employment visa.
Application Process
The easiest way to apply for a Sri Lanka visa is online through the Sri Lanka eVisa. The application process is simple and straightforward and takes only a few minutes to complete. All you need is a valid passport, a recent photograph, and a credit or debit card.
Once your application has been approved, you will receive your eVisa via email within three business days. You must print out your eVisa and present it at the port of entry when entering Sri Lanka.
Fees
The cost of the Sri Lanka eVisa varies depending on the type of visa and length of stay. Tourist visas cost USD $30, business visas cost USD $35, and employment visas cost USD $50.

Validity
Tourist visas: Valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
Business visas: Valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
Employment visas: Valid for one year from the date of issue.
