Rio carnival activities: What can you do?
Watching Parades
One of the best ways to experience Rio Carnival is by watching the parades. Every year, thousands of people flock to the Sambadrome to watch the spectacular performances by samba schools from all over Brazil. The parades feature elaborate costumes, intricate choreography and lively music that will keep you entertained for hours.
If you want to get an up-close look at the parades, you can purchase tickets for a seat in the stands or even rent a private box. You can also join one of the many street parties that take place throughout the city during carnival season. These parties are usually free and offer a great way to experience Rio’s vibrant culture.
Partying
No trip to Rio Carnival would be complete without partying! There are plenty of clubs and bars throughout the city where you can dance until dawn with locals and tourists alike. Many of these venues offer live music and DJs playing a variety of genres, so there’s something for everyone.
If you’re looking for something more low-key, there are also plenty of outdoor events such as beach parties and block parties where you can enjoy drinks and snacks while listening to live music.
Exploring
Rio de Janeiro is home to some of Brazil’s most iconic landmarks, including Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain. During your stay in Rio, make sure to explore these attractions as well as other lesser-known gems such as Santa Teresa neighborhood and Jardim Botânico.
You’ll also want to check out some of Rio’s famous beaches such as Copacabana and Ipanema. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing day in the sun or an exciting night out on the town, these beaches have something for everyone.
