O Visa for Individuals with Extraordinary Ability/Achievement How to Apply For It
What is an O Visa?
An O visa is a nonimmigrant visa that allows individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics to enter the United States temporarily for work or business purposes. The O visa is divided into two categories: the O-1A and the O-1B.
The O-1A visa is for individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, education, business, or athletics. The O-1B visa is for individuals with extraordinary achievement in the arts or television and film production.
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible for an O visa, applicants must demonstrate that they possess extraordinary ability or achievement in their field. This can be demonstrated through evidence such as awards, publications, membership in professional organizations, and other forms of recognition.
Applicants must also demonstrate that they will be entering the United States to work in their field of expertise and that they have a job offer from a U.S. employer. Additionally, applicants must show that they have the necessary qualifications and experience to perform the job.
Required Documents
When applying for an O visa, applicants must submit several documents along with their application form. These documents include proof of extraordinary ability or achievement in their field; evidence of a job offer from a U.S. employer; evidence of qualifications and experience; and proof of financial support during their stay in the United States.
Additionally, applicants must provide a valid passport and proof of legal status in their home country (if applicable). Applicants may also need to provide additional documents depending on their specific circumstances.
How to Apply
Individuals who wish to apply for an O visa must first complete Form I-129 (Petition for Nonimmigrant Worker). This form can be found on the USA ESTA. website.
Once Form I-129 has been completed and submitted along with all required documents, it will be reviewed by U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). If approved, USCIS will issue an approval notice which will allow applicants to apply for a nonimmigrant visa at a U.S embassy or consulate abroad.
