What is the Green Card Lottery?
The US Green Card Lottery, also known as the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, is a program that allows eligible citizens from certain countries to apply for permanent residence in the United States. The program was created by Congress in 1990 and has been running ever since. Each year, 50,000 visas are made available through this lottery.
The program is open to citizens of Indonesia, as well as other countries around the world. To be eligible, applicants must meet certain criteria such as having a high school education or its equivalent, or having two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience.
How to Apply for the Green Card Lottery
Applying for the US Green Card Lottery is easy and straightforward. All applicants must first register online with the official website of the US Department of State. Once registered, applicants will need to fill out an application form and submit it along with supporting documents such as passport photos and proof of eligibility.
It’s important to note that applications must be submitted during a specific time period each year. Applicants who miss this window will not be able to apply until the following year. After submitting their application, applicants will receive a confirmation number which they can use to check their status online.
Selection Process
Once all applications have been received, they will be entered into a computer-generated random selection process. This process randomly selects winners from all eligible applicants who applied during the designated time period.
Winners will then be notified via email or mail and will be given instructions on how to proceed with their application for permanent residence in the United States.

If you are selected as a winner of the US Green Card Lottery, you may also need to obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before travelling to the United States. An ESTA is required for all visa-waiver countries including Indonesia.
