Types of Visas for Benin
Benin offers several types of visas depending on the purpose of your visit. Tourist visas are valid for up to 90 days, while business visas are valid for up to 180 days. Transit visas are also available for travelers who are passing through Benin en route to another destination.
In addition, Benin offers diplomatic and official visas for those traveling on official government business. These visas are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cotonou.
Visa Requirements
To apply for a visa to Benin, you must have a valid passport with at least six months validity remaining from the date of entry into Benin. You will also need two passport-sized photographs and proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in the country.
You may also be required to provide proof of onward travel, such as a return ticket or an itinerary showing your planned destinations after leaving Benin.

The easiest way to apply for a visa to Benin is through the online eVisa system. This system allows travelers from eligible countries to apply for their visa online and receive it via email within three business days.
The eVisa is valid for up to 90 days and can be used for multiple entries into Benin during its validity period. To apply, simply fill out the online application form on eVisa Benin.
Visa Extension
If you wish to extend your stay in Benin beyond the initial validity period of your visa, you must apply for an extension at least one month before your visa expires.
To do so, you must submit a written request along with supporting documents such as proof of employment or residence permit, if applicable, at the Immigration Office in Cotonou.
