What is an Australian Transit Visa?
An Australian Transit Visa is a short-term visa that allows travelers to pass through Australia on their way to another destination. It is also known as a Transit (Subclass 771) visa. This type of visa does not allow travelers to stay in Australia for more than 72 hours and does not permit them to work or study while in the country.

Application Process for an Australian Transit Visa
The application process for an Australian Transit Visa is relatively straightforward and can be completed online via the eTA Australia. Applicants will need to provide personal information such as name, date of birth and passport details as well as answer questions about their travel plans and purpose of visit.
Once the application has been submitted, applicants will receive confirmation within 24 hours if their application has been approved or denied. If approved, applicants will receive an electronic visa which they can use to enter and exit Australia during their transit period.
Visa Validity for an Australian Transit Visa
Australian Transit Visas are valid for up to 72 hours from the time of entry into Australia.
It is important that travelers adhere to this time limit as failure to do so may result in fines or other penalties being imposed by immigration authorities.
